Abdominoplasty is a surgery that improves the appearance of the abdominal wall. An incision is made in the lower abdomen. Excess skin and fat is removed. If the abdominal muscles are stretched then they are tightened with sutures. Liposuction may also be performed at the same time to improve the contour. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately 2-3 hours. Patients go home the day of surgery and follow up with Dr. Martin several days later. A compression garment is worn for several weeks following surgery.
