Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia (male breast tissue) can be treated surgically by excising the breast tissue through an incision at the edge of the areola. Liposuction may also be performed to improve the contour of the chest. Depending on the laxity of the skin, additional skin incisions can also be used to lift the nipple and excise the loose skin. This procedure is performed under general anesthesia and usually takes 2 hours. Patients go home the day of surgery and follow up with Dr. Martin several days later. A compression garment is worn for several weeks following surgery.
