Our Process

The First Step

If you are interested in meeting with Dr. Martin then contact the office and one of the administrative assistants will schedule an appointment. At the appointment you will meet with him privately to discuss your concerns and what you would like to achieve. He will examine the area of concern and then have a discussion with you about what he thinks can be achieved. He will outline the options available to you and will answer all of your questions.

The Follow-up Visit

If you are interested in a cosmetic procedure then you can schedule a follow up visit with Dr. Martin. He will review what was previously discussed and answer any other questions you may have. He will make sure that you are comfortable with your decision prior to proceeding with any procedure. If you wish to proceed with surgery, paperwork is completed and a consent form signed. Dr. Martin will take several preoperative photos.

Payment

A $500 deposit is made to schedule a date for surgery. The final amount owing for the procedure is due 3 weeks before the surgery. We accept cash, cheques, InteracĀ®, Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Financing is also available through Medicard.

Day of Surgery

Dr. Martin will meet with you before surgery. He may make some markings on your body with a surgical marker. The anesthetist will also see you prior to surgery to ask some questions about your health and to discuss the anesthetic. A nurse will then bring you to the operating room for the procedure. After the surgery is complete, you will be brought to the recovery room where you wake up prior to discharge from the hospital.

Post-Operative Appointments

Dr. Martin will see you several times following surgery until you are completely healed. Follow up visits are in the Plastic Surgery Clinic at Humber River Hospital and also at his office on Keele St. Dr. Martin will examine your wounds to make sure that you are healing properly. You will be given wound care instructions. Most patients are completely healed within six weeks of surgery, although for some procedures the healing time is shorter. Dr. Martin will take postoperative photos once you are healed. He will explain how to best manage your scar. Once you are completely healed you no longer have to see Dr. Martin although he is always happy to see his patients anytime in the future.
